This privacy policy was initially posted July 10, 2017 and updated on February 18, 2018.  It is effective immediately.

Your privacy is very important to us.  Please read below to see how Northstar Tai Chi handles your information.  Before you get to the details, here are a few of our fundamental privacy principles:

  • Your privacy is critically important to us and we handle your information accordingly.  We also collect very little data about you compared to some other websites.
  • We don’t share your personal information with anyone without your consent, except to comply with the law, or protect our rights.
  • Information you upload or post to Northstar Tai Chi may be seen by others.

Northstar Tai Chi respects your privacy and shares your concern about the security of data you may submit to Northstar Tai Chi’s website and the related mobile applications and services (collectively, “the Services”).  This document (the “Privacy Policy”) explains the information we collect, and how we use and protect it.

    Information Northstar Tai Chi Collects

    Northstar Tai Chi collects information you provide to us.  Northstar Tai Chi may also automatically collect a variety of technical information, including general location, device and network information, cookies, log files and analytics services.

    How Information is Collected and Stored

    Cookies and Similar Technologies

    When you visit the Services, a cookie will be stored on your computer.  Generally, cookies and similar work by assigning to your computer a unique number that has no meaning outside of Northstar Tai Chi.     The Services uses log files.  Stored information may include, among other things, IP addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks.  This information is used to analyze trends, administer the Services, track member movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.  IP addresses, etc., may be linked to session IDs, athlete IDs and device identifiers.

    Analytics Services

    Northstar Tai Chi uses third party analytics providers to understand how the Services are used and to help us improve the Services.  Non-personally identifiable information may be shared with and/or processed by such services.

    Collection from Children

    Northstar Tai Chi is not intended for use by children under the age of 16.  Northstar Tai Chi does not knowingly collect such information.  If you believe we may have accidentally received such information, please contact us immediately via our Contact Form.

    How Northstar Tai Chi Uses Information

    Northstar Tai Chi primarily uses the information we collect to administer and operate the Services.  We also use your information to analyze, develop and improve the Services.  Additionally, your information may be shared with third parties, as set forth below.

    Northstar Tai Chi may modify, de-identify and aggregate the information, data, text, software, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages, tags, or other materials you make available in connection with the Services (“Content”), in ways that do not personally identify you or contain personally identifiable information.  If you make information or content publicly available on the Services, such information, even when aggregated, is capable of being publicly viewed and possibly associated with you.

    Legal Requirements

    Your personally identifiable information may be disclosed to third parties in unforeseeable situations that are not preventable even when commercially reasonable protections are employed, such as in the case that Northstar Tai Chi is subject to a hacking or other attack.

    We take measures to safeguard the collection, transmission and storage of the data we collect, process, and store.  Although we strive to employ reasonable protections for your information that are appropriate to its sensitivity, we do not guarantee or warrant the security of the information you share with us and we are not responsible for the theft, destruction, loss or inadvertent disclosure of your information or content.  No system is 100% secure.  Northstar Tai Chi will not ask for your credit card or bank account information – do not provide it even if requested by what appears to be a legitimate request from Northstar Tai Chi.

    Deleting Information

    Note that content you have shared with others (for example, through comments or posts about information on Northstar Tai Chi) or that others have copied may also remain visible after you have closed your account or deleted the information from your own profile.  In addition, you may not be able to access, correct, or eliminate any information about you that other members or third parties copied or exported out of our Services.  Your public profile may be displayed in search engine results until the search engine refreshes its cache.

    Privacy Policy Information

    If Northstar Tai Chi makes changes to this Privacy Policy, the updated Privacy Policy will be posted on the Services in a timely manner.  If the changes are significant, we will provide a prominent notice.  Northstar Tai Chi reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. If you object to any of the changes to Privacy Policy, you may cease using the Services and deactivate your account.  Using the Services after a notice of changes has been communicated to you or published on the Services shall constitute your agreement to the changes.

    United States Operation

    The Services are operated from the United States.  If you are located outside of the United States and choose to use the Services or provide information to us, your information will be transferred, processed and stored in the United States.     Disclaimer

    While Northstar Tai Chi continues to work hard to protect your personal information, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure, and Northstar Tai Chi cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to Northstar Tai Chi.  Transmitting personal information is done at your own risk.

    Retention of Information

    We retain information as long as it is necessary and relevant for our operations.  Information about you that is no longer necessary and relevant for our operations will be de-identified and/or disposed of securely.  In addition, we may retain information from closed accounts to comply with the law, prevent fraud, collect fees, resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, assist with investigations, enforce the Services’ terms and conditions and take other actions permitted by law.  The information we retain will be handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
